A Life Rooted in Mapleton

For more than 15 years, Dallas Hakes has called Mapleton home. He and his wife chose this city as the place to raise their family—a decision rooted in the small-town values, strong community, and natural beauty that make Mapleton special.

As a father of four with kids in local schools, Dallas is deeply involved in the everyday life of Mapleton. From coaching youth sports to volunteering in church and civic service, he’s committed to strengthening the community—not just as a mayor, but as a neighbor. For Dallas, public service starts at home.

From Roofer to Mayor

Before stepping into public service, Dallas Hakes spent decades doing the real work that keeps communities moving—building businesses, creating jobs, and helping families put down roots. From construction sites to small business startups, he’s experienced firsthand the grit it takes to make a plan, follow through, and provide for others. That hands-on experience shapes the way he leads today: practical, accountable, and always people-first.

Raised on a dairy farm in Stephenville, Texas, Dallas learned the meaning of hard work early—milking cows before sunrise and playing football under the Friday night lights. He later served a mission in Ecuador for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, deepening his love for faith, family, and service.

When he moved to Utah, he brought big dreams and a strong back. He started as a roofer, worked his way up, and eventually found his home in Mapleton—drawn to its values, its people, and its promise. Today, as mayor, he brings that same roll-up-your-sleeves attitude to city hall: protecting what makes Mapleton special while planning responsibly for the future.
